Mobile home values rose 34% in the last 5 years

For homebuyers looking to buy single-family properties, alternatives to traditional houses can be a more affordable option. Jacob Channel, senior economist for LendingTree, says mobile homes, condos or townhouses are still cheaper than single-family homes, even as values rise for these alternatives. A new LendingTree study found that mobile homes are cheaper and their values appreciated almost as quickly as single-family homes over five years, from 2016 to 2021.

Inflation Remains Stubbornly High Despite Fed Rate Hikes

Consumer prices eased in September for the third-straight month as declines in energy prices partly offset increases in food and shelter indexes. Despite this slight improvement, inflation remains above an 8% year-over-year rate for the seven straight month. The food and shelter indexes continued to rise at an accelerated pace, with the owners’ equivalent rent index seeing the largest monthly.

A refi wave is years away as mortgage rates settle at 7%

With mortgage rates surging to the 7% mark, industry observers believe that a new refi wave won’t return for several years. Lenders have started to prepare their businesses for at least two more years of reduced production. The latest weekly survey data from Freddie Mac shows the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage surged 26 basis points from last week to 6.92%, a record-setting climb to its highest level since April 2002.
