Yeah, so I set out to discuss “redevelopment in Leaside” and after I started filming, I realized there was no way I could get through a video without vomiting my life story and childhood memories onto the script, or lack thereof… As I said in Monday’s video, I just can’t believe that this plaza is going to be razed.

It was a great year at the onset of an even greater decade, although the class ahead of me always felt that being born in 1979 was a whole lot better… My parents brought me home to a cute little 3-bedroom, detached house on Airdrie Road in South Leaside, where I lived until I was about two-years-old. What did I know?

The amazing part about this is: although this plaza was built in 1952 and time has seemingly flown by, I wrote a blog about the potential demoltion of the plaza back in 2008. As I wrote in 2008, RioCan had, according to my barber, paid $18,500,000 for the plaza with plans to redevelop it. appeared first on Toronto Realty Blog.

Seriously, only a sprinkle of comments on Monday’s blog post? The news cycle in real estate is an interesting one. Case in point: who among you knew that Daniels Corporation, who built every existing condo in Regent Park, had lost out on its bid to construct both Phase Four and Phase Five? Few of you, I’m sure. Regent Park $538K.

Well, at least the neighbours in Leaside thought so, as they put up yellow lawn signs arguing against “bad planning.” ” Ironically, “bad planning” is the exact opposite of what the neighbours suggested, ie. When I was growing up, Yonge & Eglinton wasn’t all that busy. Clair forever. So what do I know?
