TENAFLY, N.J. (July 22, 2022) – Coldwell Banker Realty is excited to welcome Dora Omana and Marian Sasson-Albornoz to its Tenafly office as affiliated sales associates. Both women are prominent voices and proponents of homeownership in the Latin American community as the hosts of Telemundo/NBC Channel 47 show “Tu Casa TV.” Sasson-Albornoz has a long and respected career as a TV journalist and Omana has successfully served the New Jersey and New York real estate markets for more than 20 years.

According to the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP), no issue impacts access to homeownership for Latinos more than the low supply of available housing. The highest rates of housing underproduction are occurring in areas with the greatest Latino concentrations, stated NAHREP.

“Dora and Marian, in both walks of their lives as real estate professionals and journalists, strive to educate their respective clients and audience about the steps they can take to make wise financial decisions as buyers navigate a competitive real estate market. Marian and Dora are doing a great service to their local communities and to Latinos who are currently underrepresented in the United States housing market. I am very happy to welcome Dora and Marian to Coldwell Banker Realty,” said Rob Norman, president of Coldwell Banker Realty in New Jersey and Rockland County, New York.

“Education is and will always be, the most powerful driver of homeownership,” said Omana. “This is especially the case for Hispanics because in our communities, education does not enable social mobility like it is does here in the United States. By educating the Hispanic community in available financing options, Hispanics will be empowered to reach for endless opportunities and think more like owners instead of visitors. We will engage in financial planning and grow a natural desire to contribute to our communities, thereby enhancing the American culture.”

Dora Omana

Omana began her real estate career two decades ago with RE/MAX and later opened up her own office, American Dream Realty Exchange, dedicated to the vision of homeownership for all. Both she and Sasson-Albornoz said they are proud to become members of the Coldwell Banker Realty, whose international reach, innovative tools and inclusive environment will help them to further their mission to increase Latin American homeownership. A licensed New Jersey and New York salesperson, Omana earned her broker’s license five years ago in both New York and New Jersey and has been a continuing education instructor for three years. An active member of Greater Bergen REALTORS®, Omana is part of the Global Council Committee and Legislative Committee, and serves as vice-chair in the Equal Opportunity and Cultural Diversity Committee. She is a former member of the Grievance Committee. Omana has earned numerous real estate industry designations, including Accredited Buyer’s Representative, Certified International Property Specialist, e-PRO digital marketing specialist, Graduate Realtor Institute, Seniors Real Estate Specialist and Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource. She is an attorney in Colombia and passed the bar exam in the state of New York, as well as being a mediator trained in Harvard Law School.

Omana is also the host of “Tu Sueno Americano” every Thursday at 9 a.m. on Radio WADO 1280 AM, aimed at re-orienting the Hispanic community on the need to adapt societal values that will ultimately lead to the success of the American Dream. Omana said she is pleased to uplift the spirit of the Hispanic community, reminding them of the reason they migrated to the United States of America and why they have to do more proactively to achieve their goal of the American Dream.

“I think that we need to provide more financial education in order to increase homeownership among Latin Americans; when we immigrated to this wonderful country, most of us didn’t know the importance of having and keeping good credit, or how to save money and how to invest it. We need to empower our community to have a sense of belonging, and what better way than owning a piece of land? But we have to do it responsibly,” said Sasson-Albornoz. “This is precisely the goal of my TV show, TuCasa.TV—a space created to inform, educate and empower our Hispanic community. We provide the steps needed to help viewers make the most accurate real estate decisions with the help of outstanding professionals in the industry, such as lawyers, lenders, accountants, contractors and insurance companies, among others.”

Marian Sasson-Albornoz

Sasson-Albornoz is well-known as the “TV Realtor” for her Telemundo/NBC Channel 47 show “Tu Casa TV,” which is dedicated to informing, educating and empowering the Spanish community in New York and New Jersey. She created the program to blend her two careers as a real estate agent and journalist in order to educate viewers about making good financial decisions when investing in real estate. Sasson-Albornoz is a licensed real estate salesperson in both New Jersey and New York. She is an accomplished Venezuelan journalist who worked for more than 20 years at the most important Hispanic networks in the United States, most recently as the main news anchor in central Florida (Orlando and Tampa Bay areas) for Univision. Sasson-Albornoz also has worked for WNJU, a Telemundo affiliate in New York, and for Telemundo/NBC as a national correspondent for “Noticiero Nacional”, “Al Rojo Vivo” and “Un Nuevo Dia.” When Sasson-Albornoz is not making homeownership dreams come true for her clients, she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.  As a proud member of the Coldwell Banker Realty family, Sasson-Albornoz carries the values of hard work, integrity, and outstanding client service into everything she does.

Omana added, “Today, Hispanics are the largest minority group in the U.S. in terms of population. It has been said that we’re trending towards representing 30% of the US population by 2060. If we as Realtors do not concentrate on educating this growing community, not only will Hispanic representation in homeownership suffer, but the American culture will be tarnished. As Realtors, we are essential in empowering our clients throughout the homeownership process and facilitating the moving force of every immigrant as they pursue the American Dream.”

Sasson-Albornoz and Omana also host monthly first-time homebuyer workshops at the Doubletree Hotel in Fort Lee.
