Landlord Evicts Popular Brazilian Hangout, Cafe Tucum, From Bed Stuy Building

On a walk by the usually popular and lively Cafe Tucum in Bed Stuy on Friday morning, we were sad to see a marshal’s notice posted to the door and a completely empty interior.

After Years on Market, Brooklyn Heights Federal Wood-Frame House in Contract

After several years on the market, one of Brooklyn Heights’ oldest and most intact houses, 24 Middagh, is finally in contract. While we won’t know the price until the sale closes and hits public records, the latest ask that appears on the listing is $4.25 million.

When this Park Slope manse was for sale in 1910 the ad pitched it as “must be seen to be appreciated” with exquisite details and an ideal location across from Prospect Park. It has also had some modern and quirky upgrades; the “unequaled kitchen” described in the original ad has been turned into a 1950s diner.
