A co-op in one of Brooklyn’s most storied prewar buildings doesn’t come cheap, but this Classic Seven has the gracious floor plan and vintage details one would expect at 9 Prospect Park West.

The Art Deco apartment building with Venetian-style details designed by Boak and Paris opened in 1929, just before the historic stock market crash that ushered in the Great Depression. Exempt from the historic district that surrounds it and facing Prospect Park, the elevator building has 17 stories and 42 units.

This eighth floor unit has an intact floor plan, the original shows, with two large bedrooms, a maid’s room, butler’s pantry and three bathrooms. The living room and dining room (labeled a bedroom on the listing’s floor plan) are connected via a large entry gallery.

There are beamed ceilings and parquet floors throughout, as well as a decorative mantel in the living room. In the kitchen, 1930s cupboards and a vintage Chambers stove are worth saving.

The butler’s pantry has been made over into an office; an old listing for another unit (at one time belonging to actress Chloe Sevigny) shows what the built-in dish cupboards looked like, and the original floor plan for the building shows where the sink and built-ins were located.

No bathrooms are pictured; perhaps that means some original Art Deco details have survived. The unit has five closets, including three of the walk-in variety.
