Homepoint laid off more than 100 employees this week as it feels the effects of the price war in the wholesale lending space. The company confirmed workforce reductions on Wednesday and Thursday are in line with the company’s “openness to get smaller as an organization to effectively counter severe market pressures,” according to a spokesperson on Thursday.

As demand has cooled, homebuyers in many markets have regained some bargaining power. During the four-week period ending Aug. 28, the average sale-to-list price ratio fell to 99.8%, according to a report from Redfin released Thursday. A year ago, the sale-to-list price ratio was 101.4%. This is the first time the sale-to-list price ratio has fallen below 100% since March 2021.

Maryland Housing Market Trends. Here are the Maryland housing market trends as seen in July 2022, according to the yearly report from Maryland Realtors. Statewide, sales were 7,376, down 27% from the previous year. It shrunk the monthly supply of inventory to 1.3 months, which means it will take less than six weeks for the current inventory of homes on the market to sell given the current sales pace.
