This sprawling apartment in one of the grandest prewar apartment buildings in Brooklyn has a library, views, wood burning fireplace and windows on four exposures. It also has four bedrooms, three bathrooms and plenty of nooks and crannies, including a laundry room.

In the historic district not far from the Promenade, it’s on the eighth floor of 200 Hicks Street. Known as the Casino Mansion Apartments, the brick building went up in 1911. Designed by architect William Boring, it has 17 units, with no more than two apartments per floor.

The design of the apartments is arguably even more luxurious than the typical Rosario Candela prewar. If this unit’s library were open to the living and dining rooms, as probably intended originally, it would create a space more than 60 feet long spanning the front of the building, with windows wrapping around three sides. But it’s undeniably elegant as is, with herringbone floors, a neo-Classical wood mantel and moldings throughout.

The three main bedrooms are similarly outfitted and spacious, and a former maid’s room makes up a fourth bedroom. The kitchen and bathrooms have been tastefully updated with classic tile and fun wallpapers.

The unit also has a large foyer, a workroom as well as the aforementioned laundry room, many closets including walk-in ones, built-ins and space for storage and books, a service entrance and central air. The full-service building has a roof deck and impressive lobby.

As one would expect, such plum digs don’t come cheap. The monthly maintenance is an eye-popping $9,001 and the building requires a down payment of at least 50 percent. Listed with Joan Goldberg of Brown Harris Stevens, the unit is asking $6.25 million. Think it will go fast?
