CFPB continues to bring actions against mortgage companies targeting veterans with deceptive ads

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau issued a consent order against two companies on Tuesday following recent investigations of mortgage companies that use deceptive mailers to advertise loans guaranteed by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. Those investigations have resulted in actions against six companies this summer. NAHB analysis of Census Construction Spending data shows that total private residential construction spending stood at a seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of $546.6 billion in July. It was up 2.0% this month after four consecutive monthly decreases. Total private residential construction spending was 0.5% higher than a year ago. Case-Shiller: June Saw 4.3 Percent Annual Home Price Increase

In June, home prices increased 4.3 percent YoY, up from 4.5 percent in the previous month, according to the most recent S&P CoreLogic /Case-Shiller Indices. Year-over-year, the 10-City Composite increased 2.8 percent, down from 3.0 percent in the previous month.
