Our picks for open houses to check out this weekend are found in Red Hook, Bay Ridge and Flatlands. They range in price from $800,000 to $1.595 million.

In Red Hook, a mid-19th century brick house has lost its cornice and acquired a stucco coating but retains its historic ironwork. In use as a single-family (though it is technically two), the row house channels rustic chic with wide plank floors; exposed beams, bricks and mechanicals; and two unfitted kitchens. A reno after the last sale, for $1.35 million in 2018, added one of the latter to the rear of the parlor floor. It has an apron-front sink, marble counters, bead board and vintage-inspired appliances, including a turquoise Smeg fridge and maroon Heartland range. Other features include a green roof, wood-burning fireplace in the parlor and high-efficiency heating system, according to the listing.

In Bay Ridge, a barrel-fronted orange brick row house has a brownstone stoop, historic ironwork, bands of light colored stone and a cream-painted metal cornice with delicate festoons. Built around the turn of the last century as a two-family, the house is set up with a floor-through apartment over an owner’s duplex. It has a fair amount of intact original detail, such as a mantel, paneling and other woodwork, and appears to be in fine condition, but a new owner might want to restore or invert the floor plan and update the garden-level kitchen.

An early 20th Century Dutch Colonial Revival in Flatlands in estate condition needs work but has potential with windows all around, vintage features and a garage. Even as is, it has curb appeal with its brick and shingle exterior, shutters and Dutch Colonial roofline. The roomy, fully detached house has two sunrooms on the ground floor, plenty of windows, three bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms. Although plaster repair is needed, attractive original details include arches, woodwork, doors and windows. With judicious updates, the circa 1940s red and cream kitchen and blue bathroom could be showstoppers.
