On a recent Friday, The Narativ House x Brooklyn Kettle Cafe was busy with people popping in for coffee and to congratulate the owners on the shop.

The revamped space at 385 Tompkins Avenue in Bed Stuy opened January 15 as a cafe that also sells home decor objects and clothing. Previously, it was The Narativ, a concept shop showcasing African artisans in the U.S. Now known as The Narativ House, the full venture continues online with retail, wholesale, marketing and consulting.

The spot offers pastries, coffee, hot chocolate and tea, as well as art, vases, mugs, bags, masks and t-shirts. Owners Farai Simoyi and Ayo Agbede, who are married, also have plans to change up the space at 420 Putnam Avenue that previously housed Agbede’s coffee shop Brooklyn Kettle.

“Stay tuned to see what our iconic old location will turn into. Renovations in progress,” said Brooklyn Kettle’s Instagram in January. — Additional reporting by Susan De Vries
