Brooklyn Real Estate Listings Six Months Later: One Sold, One in Contract, One Still Available

This week, a look back at four of our featured listings from six months ago focuses on homes in Midwood, Park Slope, Carroll Gardens and Brooklyn Heights.

This week, a look back at four of our featured listings from six months ago focuses on homes in Midwood, Park Slope, Carroll Gardens and Brooklyn Heights. How did they fare?

This Midwood detached house is a modest brick Tudor in need of a creative eye, but it does offer some nice early 20th century details, four floors of living space and a garage at a price under the million dollar mark. The exterior of the 15-foot-wide house at 1216 East 28th Street has the details typical of the small Tudor-style dwellings built in Brooklyn in the 1920s and 1930s, including a tapestry brick facade, a prominent entrance bay and a bit of half timbering. The single-family has the expected layout with living, dining and kitchen on the first floor, two bedrooms above and a third in the attic. A rec room and full bath are in the English basement. This former House of the Day was taken of the market in May.

In Park Slope, this relatively recent condo has some attractive features not commonly found in Brooklyn homes of any vintage. The list includes walls of windows on opposite sides of rooms, three terraces and parking. The penthouse is on the top floor of a five-story, 21-unit brick building constructed in 2008 at 155 15th Street. The combination living room-dining room has banks of windows overlooking a terrace on each side. The walls of windows continue into a niche housing the u-shaped kitchen. The finishes throughout are white and minimal, with hardwood floors. This former Co-op of the Day sold in June for the asking price of $1.85 million.

In Carroll Gardens, this 1880s Neo-Grec brownstone mixes recent updates with original details, a sometimes elusive combo among houses for sale in the neighborhood. The four-story two-family is configured as an owner’s triplex over a garden apartment. Among its charms are handsome carved marble mantels, the original stair, woodwork and decorative plaster. This former Open House Pick entered contract in July.

On a picturesque stretch of Remsen Street just a short saunter from the Brooklyn Heights Promenade, this brownstone is filled with classic Italianate interior details, albeit set in a rather quirky layout. The 25-foot-wide house at 35 Remsen Street hasn’t been on the market since the 1940s. While the listing notes the house is currently used as double duplexes, a look at the floor plan shows three kitchens in place. Presumably a new owner might want to do a bit of tweaking to the arrangement. Despite the dividing up of the grand house there is a wealth of detail, particularly on the parlor floor. This former House of the Day is still available.
