Here’s an apartment that offers some of the perks popular during these stay-at-home times: in-unit-laundry, outdoor space and a bit of room for a home office. The one-bedroom in the Park Slope Historic District also has the convenience of Prospect Park just down the street.

It’s on the garden level of a Romanesque Revival-style house at 603 6th Street, one of a row built by John A. Bliss to the designs of architect A. E. White. While the brick and limestone houses were completed by the time they appeared in a 1902 article about spring building activity, this one evidently stood empty until at least 1905. An ad at the time offered the house, of an “up-to-date style,” for $14,500.

Some of that early 20th century style can still be spotted in this unit, including wood floors and a columned mantel with mirror. That’s in the bedroom — the house’s former dining room — which is set into the rounded bay at the front of the unit. The bathroom and combo kitchen and living room are at the back and there’s a windowless room, formerly a pantry, in the middle.

While that room is labelled as a nursery on the floor plan, the fact that it has a wall opening into the kitchen might make that a bit impractical. It could make a nice den or office.

The kitchen’s got wood floors and cabinets, a tin ceiling and certainly room for a table and chairs although perhaps not for a large living room setup. A renter might want to turn the large bedroom at front into a combo living room and bedroom. (And although the small middle room is not technically a legal bedroom, nobody will stop you if you want to put a bed in there and use the front room entirely as a living room.)

A tin ceiling in the full bath in an extension has a dash of glitz with gold paint and there’s also exposed brick, bead board and hex tiles. The toilet is set into its own small room, which might make it a bit less awkward to walk through the bathroom in order to access the rear yard. It’s not clear from the listing if the garden is shared or private, but it’s got some lush plantings and room for a table and chairs.

The apartment is listed with Carol Singh of Compass for $3,000 a month. Worth the rent?
