While events are not back in full swing in Brooklyn, this year does see the return of more fall festivals to get you into the spirit of the season. There are hands-on activities for all ages, food, music and, of course, pumpkins to be found at shindigs scattered across the borough.

We’ve rounded up four free events to satisfy your crisp-weather cravings.

Kings County Fiber Festival
Old Stone House
336 3rd Street, Washington Park, Park Slope
Saturday, October 9
10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Get ready for the hat- and mitten-wearing season at the 10th annual celebration of fiber at Old Stone House. Independent fiber artists including dyers, knitters and spinners will showcase their work, and there will be plenty of fiber goodies for sale if you are inspired to start your own project. The historic house is also hosting a “Make Warm Hats for the Homeless” drive that day so you can bring your donation (please have it in an individual plastic bag) to the festival. Last year more than 600 hats were collected for donation. Learn more at the event page online.

Harvest Festival
Weeksville Heritage Center
158 Buffalo Avenue, Crown Heights
Saturday, October 9
12 to 5 p.m.

The grounds around the historic Hunterfly Houses will be filled with food, arts and crafts, healing workshops and music as the site celebrates the arrival of the fall season. While the grounds are open throughout the day, there will be some timed dance performance. Something Positive will be performing “The Arrival” at 1 and 3 p.m. and the Renegade Performance Group will present their site-specific work at 4 p.m. For more information on all of the activities and the participants, visit the event page online.

Farmhouse Family Day: Lovely Leaves
Wyckoff House Museum
5816 Clarendon Road, East Flatbush
Saturday, October 16
11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The leaves are changing and a workshop at Brooklyn’s oldest house will let the curious learn some more facts while also trying their hand at making leaf prints. The activity is set to start at 1 p.m. but the grounds will be open to shop the farm stand, drop off food scraps for compost and get your hands dirty with some farm activities. You can also sign up for a “Sunflower Vegetable Share” food box, a low-cost seasonal fruit and vegetable box that accepts EBT/SNAP. The house itself will not be accessible as work continues to recover from the impact of Hurricane Ida. Visit the event page for all the details on the activities for the day.

Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy’s Harvest Festival
Brooklyn Bridge Park
Pier 6, Brooklyn Heights
Saturday, October 23
11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

After a pause in 2020 the annual festival returns to Pier 6 for a day of arts and crafts, storytelling and games. There will be a kick-off procession and the popular pumpkin patch will be back. More details are still to be announced so check out the event page online for further updates.
