An apartment in a turn-of-the-last-century Sunset Park row house with high ceilings retains original moldings and a decorative mantel. It’s on the parlor floor of 439 50th Street, a two-family brownstone in the 50th Street Historic District.

Constructed between 1898 and 1901, according to the designation report, the brownstone row has high stoops, angular bay windows, bands of rough-faced stone, and delicate terra-cotta ornament.

With four rooms, the unit has a flexible layout. Woodwork throughout is painted white, and the wood floors are of a recent vintage.

The large front parlor, shown set up as a bedroom, has a bay window with trim and paneling; a ceiling with recessed lighting has replaced crown molding. The neo-Classical mantel sports Doric columns and a modern tile-covered firebox.

A second, or middle parlor, is accessed via a wide doorway with newer French doors. There is a closet and a built-in wardrobe with shelves and louvered doors.

Pocket doors lead to another large room in the rear with another closet, two tall windows, and a picture rail. To the side through another set of pocket doors is the kitchen.

Recently updated, it has a shiny tile floor, pale gray Shaker-style cabinets, and built-in microwave. The bathroom is not pictured, but a previous listing shows a mid-20th-century tub and square brown tile with a tile mural depicting a leafless tree silhouetted against a harvest moon.

Listed by Yendy Gomez Tavarez of Voro New York, it’s priced at $2,699. Worth it?
