This early 20th century house might be on the pricier end for a rental but it does offer seven bedrooms, outdoor space, parking and, unusually, accessibility to all levels with an elevator. The house at 1409 Glenwood Road is located near the southern border of Flatbush in West Midwood.

One of the many developments that carved up the former farm land of Flatbush into suburban enclaves, the houses of West Midwood largely date to the early 20th century. This single-family home has the gambrel roof silhouette of the Dutch Colonial Revival style so popular at the time. Here the distinctive roofline faces the street and a columned porch stretches across the first floor.

Records show the house got a renovation by Atelier New York Architecture after it last sold in 2010. The kitchen and baths all appear updated and there’s a new back staircase in addition to the elevator. There are still plenty of original details left intact, including an impressive brick fireplace with an inglenook in the parlor. The wood burning fireplace is in working order. There are also wood floors, leaded glass windows and a columned partition leading to seating area facing the porch. There’s no floor plan in the listing, but the photos show another niche with leaded glass windows and built-in cabinets in what is presumably the original dining room.

The kitchen is at the rear of the house and has sleek white cabinets, a center island and a wall of glass doors that open onto a rear deck.

There are seven bedrooms: four on the second floor and three on the third. Those pictured all have wood floors and two of them have original window seats. There’s one full bath on each floor, renovated with streamlined wood vanities and white fixtures.

The finished basement includes a wood-lined full bath with soaking tub and a rec room. It also contains a bedroom, according to the listing, although PropertyShark says the basement is below grade.

The renovations also included central air. In addition to the driveway, there’s a garage at the rear of the lot. The house sits at the front end of a cul de sac that abuts the sunken subway tracks. The Newkirk Station for the B and Q lines is just a few blocks away

The house is available furnished or unfurnished for $9,500 a month and is listed with Rebekah Carver of Douglas Elliman. What do you think?
