In our latest real estate tech entrepreneur interview, we’re speaking with Sergii Starostin from Outpost Club.

Without further ado…

Who are you and what do you do?

I am Sergii Starostin, a Real Estate Investor, mentor, co-founder, and CEO of Outpost Club, a real estate tech startup in the coliving space.

What problem does your product/service solve?

We created Outpost Club because we had issues finding an affordable, furnished, safe place to live in New York when we moved there in 2016. Being immigrants it was very difficult to secure such a place and we decided to act to create the very offering we ourselves needed.

We reimagined homes as a service for Millennials – helping our Club members live with connection, creativity, and flexibility – in an easy and affordable way. We are building a digital housing service offering a network of properties tailored for modern co-living – with a complete range of add-on services. Our value proposition helps solve the key pain points:

  • Our easy online rental process offers speed & flexibility.
  • Our houses are fully equipped and maintained – they even come with friends. You can move with a suitcase – we do all the work.
  • Our houses cost 20-60% less and offer more – great amenities, and great people to share real life within a co-living framework.

Unlike most of the new players in the co-living space, our business model is focused on serving the volume segment where the largest number of young Millennials are to be found. We offer low to medium-cost rooms in great houses and an easy path to more luxury as personal budgets expand.

What are you most excited about right now?

New technologies provide an unprecedented approach to how we choose, rent, live, and create new social contacts. At Outpost we use AI during the selection and onboarding process by utilizing AI tools in a vast majority of marketing, follow-up, and scheduling; We have automated tools to sign, pay, and then have the onboarding experience, lock control in the properties, safety measures in buildings with AI connected to cameras, intercom, door locks – to ensure safety on site and proper contacts if needed. Sensors in the units allow for better consumption of electricity, early prediction of leaks, issues with equipment. We live in a very interesting time!

What’s next for you?

We want to expand into more states out of New York to Florida, New Jersey, and California.

What’s a cause you’re passionate about and why?

I am a father of 2 boys, both 9 months old, so learning every day something new about our life. I love traveling and sports like snowboarding, yoga, diving, and biking. I am Ukrainian and support a lot of Ukrainian communities back in Ukraine, but also people who move to the USA from Ukraine. Also, one of my friends did an all-inclusive playground in lower Manhattan that provides services to all kinds of children, including those on the Autism spectrum, which I support.
