While we have yet to find a movie or TV home that we won’t get excited about, today we have a special treat for TV fans — especially those hooked on what’s arguably Netflix’s biggest hit series.

The house that starred as the Byers’ home in Season 4 of Stranger Things is now for sale. And it looks eerily familiar — with the owners taking special care in setting up the interiors to match the show’s defining ’80s aesthetics.

Located in Albuquerque, New Mexico (and not the fictional Cali city of Lenora Hills, as the storyline claims) this piece of TV history offers a blend of modern living and nostalgic charm, and has been operating as a successful short-term rental business, drawing in Stranger Things fans from near and far.

We recently had the exclusive opportunity to sit down with Felicia Vaisa, the real estate agent representing the Stranger Things-featured house, who shared plenty of intriguing facts about the property with us. Whether you’re a die-hard fan or a potential buyer looking for a one-of-a-kind investment, here’s everything you might want to know about the Albuquerque home that once served as the backdrop for Eleven and the Byers’ family adventures.

The house has 4 bedrooms and an open floor plan

Set in the desirable Glenwood Hills neighborhood of Albuquerque, NM, the 4,350-square-foot home boasts 4 bedrooms and 4 baths, complete with an open floor plan that includes a custom stone fireplace, two living areas, and a formal dining room.

There’s also a gourmet kitchen, equipped with expansive countertops and stylish cabinetry.

The property’s outdoor space includes a private pond, frequented by local deer, adding to the home’s serene atmosphere — and giving a Stranger Things-meets-Leave The World Behind vibe that’s a perfect tribute to the property’s Netflix ties.

The 1966-built house sits on a 0.32-acre lot and features a two-car garage and a large, fully finished walk-out basement.

Ready to welcome new owners, the Albuquerque home is listed for $675,000, with Felicia Vaisa of Vertical Real Estate Keller Williams repping the listing. Those interested in purchasing this iconic property, whether as a charming family home or as a unique investment opportunity, can reach out to Felicia by email at feliciavaisa@kw.com for more details or to arrange a private viewing.

Its starring role in Stranger Things

This home served as a key location in Stranger Things, housing Eleven and the Byers family during the show’s fourth season.

As a quick recap for fans, Season 4 sees the Byers family and Eleven relocating from Hawkins, Indiana to Lenora Hills, California. Following the move, Eleven is trying to adjust to her new life without her powers, struggling with the challenges of high school and facing bullying.

The house becomes a sanctuary where she deals with her sense of isolation and longing for her friends and the normalcy of her previous life in Hawkins. Off-screen though, the house’s inclusion in the series has turned it into a recognizable spot for fans visiting Albuquerque.

The property is being brought to market by owners Ryan and Karen Asher, who purchased the house soon after filming wrapped.

In an interview, Felicia Vaisa, the listing agent for the property — who also helped the Ashers purchase the place back in 2021 — shared the backstory of the current owners’ purchase.

“They bought the house after it had been used for filming. They hadn’t watched ‘Stranger Things’ before but became huge fans after purchasing,” adding that, following the purchase, “They dived deep into the Stranger Things lore, turning their new home into a perfect replica of the Byers’ house.”

The interiors are a trip back to the ’80s

The current owners meticulously replicated the ’80s style seen in Stranger Things, ensuring that each decor element matched those seen on the show.

“The owner Karen Asher spent a lot of time finding items that matched those in the show, like the exact curtain hung in one of the bedrooms,” Vaisa explained. She scoured the internet and thrift stores to replicate the exact ’80s aesthetic seen on the show, from the curtains in the kids’ rooms to the iconic alphabet wall.

But don’t let that fool you into thinking the house lacks any modern conveniences. While boasting ’80s-inspired decor and furnishings, the house has been thoughtfully updated with modern amenities.

Everything stays – for the right price

For those looking to keep the Stranger Things vibe alive, the owners are willing to include all the furnishings in the sale.

“Karen dedicated countless hours to sourcing and arranging the furnishings and memorabilia to mirror the exact atmosphere of the Byers’ home as seen on screen. She hunted down replicas of the show’s iconic pieces, like the exact pattern of curtains from Will’s room and similar era-specific furniture that reflects the 1980s setting of the series.”

This painstaking attention to detail has transformed the property into a living museum, deeply resonating with fans who visit. Sellers Karen and Ryan Asher are willing to include the items in the sale if the offer is right.

The house still contains remnants from the series’ production, some literally embedded in the home.

“There’s glass in some of the air vents from when an explosion was shot for the series,” says Felicia. Guests can even take a piece of this history home with them.

Has been operated as a successful vacation rental

Though initially bought as a family home, the house’s fame and unique setup have made it a successful short-term rental.

Guests who have stayed at the iconic Albuquerque property have had overwhelmingly positive experiences, reveling in a blend of nostalgia and comfort. Reviews describe the property as “a perfect throwback to the 1980s,” enriched with lots of Stranger Things memorabilia.

One guest encapsulated the sentiment with their feedback: “Such a great experience to stay here! Lots of interesting Stranger Things/80s memorabilia, and it was unreal to be in the house used in Stranger Things 4. The house is very large and comfortable, situated in a very pleasant and quiet neighbourhood. Hosts were easy and pleasant to deal with. We’ll never forget our stay here!”

Can serve as a loving family home or rental property

The property’s successful run as a short-term rental offers a significant income potential to the next owners, should they choose to continue operating it as a vacation rental.

But given the property’s location, size, amenities, and unique touches (including a private pond in the backyard), it can easily serve as an idyllic family home.

Set in a peaceful, family-friendly neighborhood

The house is located in a family-friendly area of Albuquerque known for its safety and community amenities.

“Glenwood Hills is a very sought-after neighborhood, ideal for families and those looking for a quiet, pleasant environment,” added Vaisa.

Unlike other famous filming locations in Albuquerque that attract unwelcome fan attention, the Stranger Things house offers a respectful and enjoyable experience for guests and residents alike, with all past fan interactions being respectful and pleasant.

By contrast, the city’s most famous TV home — Walter White’s house from Breaking Bad, located only 9 minutes away from the Stranger Things one — has become a pilgrimage site of sorts for series fans, with the owners having to take precautions to keep fans off the property.
