As a quick recap for fans, Season 4 sees the Byers family and Eleven relocating from Hawkins, Indiana to Lenora Hills, California. Following the move, Eleven is trying to adjust to her new life without her powers, struggling with the challenges of high school and facing bullying.
The house becomes a sanctuary where she deals with her sense of isolation and longing for her friends and the normalcy of her previous life in Hawkins. Off-screen though, the house’s inclusion in the series has turned it into a recognizable spot for fans visiting Albuquerque.

The property is being brought to market by owners Ryan and Karen Asher, who purchased the house soon after filming wrapped.
In an interview, Felicia Vaisa, the listing agent for the property — who also helped the Ashers purchase the place back in 2021 — shared the backstory of the current owners’ purchase.
“They bought the house after it had been used for filming. They hadn’t watched ‘Stranger Things’ before but became huge fans after purchasing,” adding that, following the purchase, “They dived deep into the Stranger Things lore, turning their new home into a perfect replica of the Byers’ house.”
The interiors are a trip back to the ’80s
The current owners meticulously replicated the ’80s style seen in Stranger Things, ensuring that each decor element matched those seen on the show.
“The owner Karen Asher spent a lot of time finding items that matched those in the show, like the exact curtain hung in one of the bedrooms,” Vaisa explained. She scoured the internet and thrift stores to replicate the exact ’80s aesthetic seen on the show, from the curtains in the kids’ rooms to the iconic alphabet wall.
But don’t let that fool you into thinking the house lacks any modern conveniences. While boasting ’80s-inspired decor and furnishings, the house has been thoughtfully updated with modern amenities.

“Karen dedicated countless hours to sourcing and arranging the furnishings and memorabilia to mirror the exact atmosphere of the Byers’ home as seen on screen. She hunted down replicas of the show’s iconic pieces, like the exact pattern of curtains from Will’s room and similar era-specific furniture that reflects the 1980s setting of the series.”
This painstaking attention to detail has transformed the property into a living museum, deeply resonating with fans who visit. Sellers Karen and Ryan Asher are willing to include the items in the sale if the offer is right.
Authentic remnants from the show
The house still contains remnants from the series’ production, some literally embedded in the home.
“There’s glass in some of the air vents from when an explosion was shot for the series,” says Felicia. Guests can even take a piece of this history home with them.

Though initially bought as a family home, the house’s fame and unique setup have made it a successful short-term rental.
Guests who have stayed at the iconic Albuquerque property have had overwhelmingly positive experiences, reveling in a blend of nostalgia and comfort. Reviews describe the property as “a perfect throwback to the 1980s,” enriched with lots of Stranger Things memorabilia.
One guest encapsulated the sentiment with their feedback: “Such a great experience to stay here! Lots of interesting Stranger Things/80s memorabilia, and it was unreal to be in the house used in Stranger Things 4. The house is very large and comfortable, situated in a very pleasant and quiet neighbourhood. Hosts were easy and pleasant to deal with. We’ll never forget our stay here!”
